This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Michael Harrington, 63, born on July 8, 1944 and passed away on October 4, 2007. We will remember him forever. If you would like to leave a tribute, please don't be shy. I know I use this primarily, but it's not only for me.

"In the glistening
Of the lost and open sky
Tiny piece of you sits
Simple wish waits for reply.

Where have you gone my feather light heart?
'You mustn't forget what love can see.' "

"You taught me the courage of stars before you left.
How light carries on endlessly, even after death.
With shortness of breath, you explained the infinite.
How rare and beautiful it truly is that we exist.

I couldn’t help but ask
For you to say it all again.
I tried to write it down
But I could never find a pen.
I’d give anything to hear
You say it one more time,
That the universe was made
Just to be seen by my eyes."
-"Saturn" by Sleeping at Last

I love you. I miss you. Love conquers all.

I found an old blank journal of yours. I thought there's little use in a blank journal, so I decided to write my dreams in it, my dreams for the future. Please watch over me as I attempt to follow through with these, and let them be for the good of all, not just me.
I love you. Always and forever.

I've been reading the news as much as I can- it's not good for me to read it in detail because I get upset- I'm really scared we might go to war with Syria. If we do, is it the right thing to do? Is war ever right? As Quakers, we're supposed to be against war. But, what do we do? I miss you so much at times like this. You always comforted me. Love you.

I love you past the moon, past the stars, and now into another world. We will see each other again someday.

I miss you so much. I heard these song lyrics and thought of you:
"These are not times for the weak of heart. These are the days of raw despondence. And I never dreamed I would have, To lay down my torch for you like this."

Letters to Dad

July 29, 2013

I was just watching this story on the news about a man who wrote a book about Jesus and his life.  The book is very controversial and here's why: The writer, while being a scholar- with four degrees in religious studies- one being in the new testament- and fluency in biblical Greek, happens to be Muslim.  He was invited to speak about his book on this show, not knowing it was all going to be an attack on his writing a book about Jesus while he's Muslim.  They just attacked him on this show, and I was thinking about how angry this would make you.  That someone has no right to talk about Jesus unless they're Christian.  He's a religious scholar!  I'm not Buddhist, but Buddha fascinates me.  Anyway, this made me think of you.  I bet you have lots of opinions and thoughts I haven't even thought of yet.
