Shelly was born on April 1, 1973, in Norfolk, the daughter of Robert and Karla (Pigg) Kinning. She was raised in Norfolk and earned her LPN from Central Community College in Columbus. In 1997, Shelly married Julio Aldana in Columbus. She was employed as a nurse at the Cargill Plant in Schuyler. Later, she also worked for Golden Living Center in Columbus. She transferred to the Golden Living Center in Norfolk and moved to Stanton. She enjoyed singing and watching movies. Her love was her family and she was a devoted grandmother to her grandson, Demarcus Kinning
