A native of Montgomery, AL., and the daughter of the late Will and Juanita Jackson Porter, Mrs. Smith had lived in Columbus over 40 years and retired from Muscogee Manor Nursing Home after over 20 years of service. She also worked as a Teacher's Aid at Pinehurst Baptist Church Christian School. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church and was one of the founders of the Gleneden Social Club. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert D. Smith, Jr., and five siblings, Curtis, Milton and Samuel Porter, Ethel Gary and Patricia Porter.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffery Smith and Antonio Smith; two daughters, Patricia Smith-Davis(Rickey) and Tiffany Smith-Phelps(Artemus); eight grandchildren, Shamilah Smith, Jazmine Fluellen, Jeffery Smith II, Dominique Smith, Antonio Smith, Jr., Anthony Smith, Tamyia Phelps and Artemus Phelps, Jr; two great grandchildren, Rosadia and Qeyonez Corbett; one brother, Lawrence Porter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
