Taking Pictures
Mrs. Miriam came to my book talk last year at one of the Atlanta public library branches when my new children's book came out. It was great seeing her there. Afterwards we were all taking pictures. When I asked to take a picture with her, she took the oxygen from her nose.
Charlene said, "What are you doing?"
Mrs. Miriam said, "I'm getting ready to take a picture."
Charlene: "Keep that on. You can't take it off!"
Mrs Mriiam: "I'm not taking a picture with this in my nose!"
After going back and forth awhile about whether she could or couldn't take the oxygen off, Charlene finaly said, "Well, you can take it off just for this picture."
I'll always cherish that picture. I am grateful that Mrs. Miriam wanted to be at my book talk.
I will miss her.
