This memorial website was created in memory of Mufti Muhammad Siraj Saleh.

He was born into the Ani family in the Raya region of Wello, one of the largest Muslim provinces in Ethiopia.

• Descendent of Ulemma. His grandfather, Sheikh Siraj, was a great Muslim scholar from whom Sheikh Muhammad derived his namesake.

• He initiated and sparked into motion the national call for Muslim holidays (Eidul Fitra and Eidul Adha) in Ethiopia

• He was sent to New York to serve as the Director / Secretory of the Muslim World League. He was also commissioned to represent this league in Washington DC.

• He served as the ambassador of Ethiopia to Yemen and also represented Ethiopia in Egypt as an emissary.

• During the communist take-over of Ethiopia, he fled to Saudi Arabia where he served as the Ethiopian delegate to immigrants

• He is one of the founding members of First Hijrah Foundation and the Badr International Ethiopian Muslim Organization. He was the spiritual leader (imam) of both of these organizations for over a decade.

• He was certified in Mecca as a scholar of Hadith and derived his knowledge from the great teachers of Mecca.

• He was a beloved leader of the Ethiopian Muslim community all over the world.

We will remember him forever.
