She was the fourth (2nd daughter) among the children of the Adefemi Dynasty while she was the first child of her mother. Since the late father was working with the then United African Company (UAC) the family was a dynamic one moving from coast to coast sojourning in Benin and Warri in the then Midwestern Region and now Edo and Delta States respectively.

Mubo had her Secondary Education at Anglican Girls Grammar School Ijebu Ode (Modern School then) before proceeding to Lagos Stated School of Nursing, Awolowo Road Ikoyi Lagos in 1959 to study General Nursing. She also attended the University of Benin in early 1990s to add to her professional headgear; she read Nursing management at the University of Benin.

PROFESSION: A professional Nurse who never delved into any other profession but Caring and Nursing. She attended School of Nursing Lagos and started her nursing career from General Hospital Lagos. She later proceeded to Island Maternity Lagos to study Mid Wifery. When she located her marriage partner Samson Tunji Oyelakin, She relocated to Ibadan in 1967 and joined the University College Hospital Ibadan. It is on record that she joined the UCH as a Staff Nurse and rose through the ranks to become the Chief Matron (pinnacle of Nursing profession) before she retired gloriously after attaining the retirement age of 60 years on 4th April 2002. She earned herself ‘Blessed Nurse’ title from her professional colleagues while leading them as Chief Matron.

She was so loved by her Nurses that at retirement ALL the Nurses in UCH contributed money, bought and presented a Car to her as a sign of love and appreciation for good leadership.

MARRIAGE/FAMILY: Late MorohunMubo got married to Samson Tunji Oyelakin (deceased) from Ile Ogbo Osun state. It was her marriage to Surveyor Tunji Oyelakin that made Late Morohunmubo leave her Nursing service with Island Maternity to Ibadan. She had three wonderful children BOSE, KEMI (deceased) & AKINSOLA to succeed her. Also to succeed her directly from her loins are four grandchildren 2 each from Bose and Akin and many more from her brothers and sisters who saw her as their Mentor. She graduated from being just a mother to being a Grandmother!

Grandma Beatrice Morohunmubo Oyelakin lived a fearless but God fearing; humanitarian life with service to humanity in the area of care! This caring nature saw her spending almost her life earnings on developing the less privileged meeting their needs from time to time. She would rather shelve new clothes and other ephemeral social purchases than see her younger ones become despondent illiterates. Lawumi and Yinka who she trained through Secondary schools testified that they were never driven home for owing school fees throughout their secondary education sponsored by this great, caring and loving woman. She also sponsored the secondary education of some of her other siblings after the death of their father. She was a Father figure to many!!!

FAITH Grandma was born into the Anglican faith where like every other Adefemi Sons and Daughters; was a member of the choir. Instead of social clubs and association, Grandma gave her time to the service of God in His vineyard. In her later years, she was fellowshipping with Grace & Mercy church in Ibadan where she was an Elder until she slept.
