Mr. McCoy served 20 years in the United States Army retiring as a Staff Sergeant.

His survivors include: a loving and devoted daughter, Constance LaGail Lyons, Marietta, GA; a loving friend, Lisa Boyd Walton and her children all of Lanett, AL; two brothers, Zachary (Wardell) McCoy, Atlanta, GA and Tommy Lee (Gwendolyn) McCoy, Fayetteville, NC; a nephew he reared, Edwin Edmondson, Houston, TX; special cousins, Deborah Bonner Johnson, West Point, GA and Meryl Harvey, LaGrange, GA; four sisters-in-law, Leatrice Higgins and Beatrice Ware both of Lanett, AL, Dorothy Baines (Reginald), Valley, AL and Iverria Henderson, Decatur, GA; two brothers-in-law, Donald (Shirlene) Edmondson, and Lamar (Theressa) Edmondson both of Lanett, AL; and, a host of other loving relatives and friends.
