Her Life
April 7, 2014

Elmer Flowers was born in Heard County (Franklin, Georgia) on February 10, 1930 to David and Sarah Jennings. Her parents moved to Hogansville, Georgia when she was an infant, where she later attended elementary school. She transferred to East Depot High School in LaGrange, Georgia, where she later met Leon Flowers and married on May 17, 1949.

She joined Springfield Baptist Church at an early age, where she faithfully served on the Mother's Board and food service ministries.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon C. Flowers, Sr.; son, Leon Flowers, Jr.; brother, A. D. Jennings; and parents, David and Sarah (Thomaston) Jennings.

Late Wednesday evening, April 2, 2014, God saw Elmer Flowers was getting tired so He dispatched His angels of grace and mercy to Lagrange Nursing & Rehab Center to summon His servant home. She had fought a good fight of faith and finished the course; now her crown of righteousness is awaiting her in heaven.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: children, Jo Ann F. Brown of Fairburn, Georgia; Marilyn McGhee of Hogansville, Georgia; Michael (Lydia) Flowers of College Park, Georgia; Linda Strozier (Rev. Crawford) of LaGrange, Georgia; grandchildren, Demetrius Flowers (Chandra), Timothy McGhee, Gerald McGhee (Tamara), Tian Flowers (Trina), LaTasha Strozier, Andrea Brown, Mario Flowers, Ashley Strozier, Marlon Flowers, and Corion Strozier; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Buford Jennings (Frances); Sisters-in-law, Jenniel Flowers, Tsuneko Flowers, and Helen Gilmore; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
