Gladys Virginia Hutchinson Allen was born September 26, 1933 in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Ernest and Mary Liza McCollough Hutchinson. 

She confessed Christ at an early age and united with Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Valley, Alabama.  Gladys enjoyed using her beautiful talented voice singing in the choir.  She attended Riverview School of Valley, Alabama.  She was employed by West Point Pepperell at the Valley Utilization Plant until her retirement.

She was preceded  in death by  two sons, James and Othery Hutchinson; five brothers, Oneal Hutchinson, Sr., Lonnie Hutchinson, Mack Hutchinson, Robert L. Hutchinson and Alfred L. Hutchinson; two sisters, Linda Hutchinson and Bobbie Ruth Jackson.  Gladys departed this life on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at her residence.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  a devoted husband, Joseph Allen, Valley, AL; one daughter, Tammie Ware, Valley, AL; three sons, Ted (Jennifer) Hutchinson, Rev. Frankie ( Patrice) Hutchinson, Sr., and Thery DeVaughn (Veronica) Burton all of Valley, AL; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Annie (Samuel) Ross and Janice (Jefferson) Madden both of Valley, AL and Janie (James) Ramsey, Lanett, AL; two aunts, Annie Pearl McCulloh, Lanett, AL and Elden Stephens, Valley, AL; mother-in-law, Marie Allen Brantley, New Orleans, LA; five step-children, James Brown, Atlanta, GA, Angela Davis, Detroit, MI, Lisette Stephens, Columbus, GA, Specialist Tanisha Bussby, Ft. Campbell, KY and Sabrina Stowall, Tampa, FL; 12 step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Henry Jackson, Valley, AL; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hutchinson, Valley, AL; and, a host of other loving relatives and friends including special friends, Evelyn McCulloh, Lanett, AL and Juanita Cook, Valley, AL.
