Virginia Dean Smith, of West Point, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Lanier Nursing Home.  She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of West Point.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Russell B. Smith, her father John Henry Dean, her mother, Clara Hester Dean, and a brother, William Hester Dean.  She is survived by her son, Richard Dean Smith and his wife, Emily; her daughter, Carol Smith Henderson and her husband Kennon; Her grandchildren, John Russell Smith and his wife Monica, Elliott Dean Smith, Daniel Richard Smith, Virginia Henderson Swenson and her husband Erik, and James Kennon Henderson, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Roman Russell Smith and Emaline Kennon Swenson; and her brother Jerry Hester Dean and his wife Betty.
