Trip to South Africa

April 21, 2020
When I took our father to South Africa that first time for treatment and the doctors found a tumor in his duodenum, can you imagine what I thought?  'Cancer?'. That was the worst day of my life. The money we had, had run out. The banks in Nigeria said the 5 million His Exellency Alamieyeseigha had given us had finished, but how? We left with only a million. I resolved there and then to go back to Nigeria and plead with his Excellency, polish his shoes if I must to get some more money for our father's treatment.
Whilst the doctors waited for instructions to proceed with the operation I was faced with a dilemma. I could leave our father in South Africa to do the operation whilst I rush to Nigeria to checkout the Banks, if not possible go to His Excellency for more. No, cannot leave our father, nothing was guaranteed so, we told the hospital we'll be back in a week for the operation.
We got to Lagos, I had to push my father on a wheel chair and roll our luggage at the same time. Some man came from nowhere and asked to help and I thought he was a life saver. When we got to the counter he asked for our passports for stamping. I gave them to him and they were stamped. Immediately after he vanished with our passports.
To cut a long story short, we got to Port Harcourt, went to his Excellency and again he gave another 5 million and Grace, 'bless her' sent an equivalent of 1million naira in dollars. We got new passports and went back to South Africa for our father's operation. I am telling this story because we must not forget to thank His Excellency Alamieyeseigha even though late for he added years to our father's life and as a family this is a good time to say thank you to Dr. Grace Opigo his daughter for stepping up with 1 million to support her father in time of need.
