Her Life

Nancy Mullen Moore

December 10, 2015

9/19/1931 – 12/6/2015

Nancy Moore was born in Seattle WA, to John and Pauline Mullen on September 19, 1931.  She grew up on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle and Graduated from Holy Names High School. She Graduated from Gonzaga University and went on to earn an MS Degree Graduating from the University of Washington Nursing School.  She enlisted and was a Major in the US ARMY Reserves. Nancy also taught Nursing at Shoreline Community College in the 1970s.   She spent most of her career as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse at Central Group Health on the Capitol Hill campus.

Nancy lived her life giving to others. She was an incredibly talented nurse choosing to care for the sickest of babies. She liked working nights because it was quieter and she could devote her attention to the infants.  She always looked at the bright side of how many of them she and her colleagues could provide care for and save.  It was truly humbling.

She was an incredible single mother who worked extremely hard to make ends meet.  She was always there for her son B.J. supporting him with love, advice and a lot of PATIENCE. She never missed even one sporting event and was the ultimate and understated mom behind the athlete.

Nancy had a special and intense connection to her animals.  She cared for her pets with a love and respect which transcended them to a higher level within her world. All of her animals lived longer than they were supposed to, were highly intelligent and of course understood everything she said. I sometimes teased her about being Nurse Dolittle.

She adored and was extremely proud of her grandchildren Jack, Jerry, Emma and Aili.  Over the last few years, she really enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters in particular.  She loved getting her nails done, dropping them off at ski camps, shopping and thoroughly enjoyed their unique qualities. She often had a sparkle in her eye when she thought about what may be in store for their father. Payback! I loved my mom so much.

Nancy also had very close bonds to her daughter-in-law Shelley and her stepdaughters Leslie and Connie.  She loved them all as if they were her own children.

My mom will be missed by many. Too many to mention.  Seems she always left a wake of authentic friends who loved her wherever she went.  We were so blessed to have her in our life.  The world was a much better place with Nancy Moore in it. Her family will miss her immensely.

Nancy passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 6 to join all of her pets in Heaven. She received exceptional care from the staffs at Virginia Mason and Park Place Assisted Living.

Services will be scheduled at 10:00am on Wednesday 12/16.
