You can't know anything about the Sparta running programs without knowing John and Nancy Thomas. Cross Country and Track are about team, and that is what coach JT and Nancy were, a team. Nancy will be missed by decades of runners who were part of their program. Although she is no longer with us, we are not without her. Because what she helped establish, lives on in all of us today.

I will always appreciate and hold dear my memories from running cross and track under JT through my middle and high school years at Sparta. During this time, I had the privilege of running with Angie and got to experience the genuine care and support that JT and Nancy lavished on every member of the team. Nancy's smile and loving spirit was ever present - such a blessing to everyone.

Nancy has one of the most kindest hearts I've ever known. She was always so nice, caring, and compassionate. She has done so much for me that I could never say thank you enough...and i didn't enough. Now im here wishing that I would of the times i hadn't. I know you will be missed by all Sparta athletes. Rest in Peace, as your contributions will never subside. Thank you & JT. Much Love

As Nancy's sister I first want to say that I miss her so much. She was my best friend, confidant, soulmate. I know she's watching over her beautiful family - John, Michael, Angie, Aaron, Audrey and Ryan and that they will find strength thru the memories she's left as a gift to all of us. She will always be in our hearts. "I love you CC." I'm blessed to have had you in my life.

I first met Nancy at the track field in the late 1980's. We were there to cheer on our kids, Angie and Aaron. Little did I know at the time how much our lives would be connected over the years. As I look in the face of our daughter-in-law and our grandchildren, Ryan and Audrey, I will be reminded of Nancy and what a precious gift her and John have given to our family. We will miss her.

Nancy or as I call her Grandma CC, meant so much to me! She would take me shopping, go on fun vacations like Florida or Kentucky, and had me over for many sleepovers! She was so caring, and sweet. She may not be with us anymore. But in my heart she will be with me where ever I go.

As a member of Sparta's cross country and track team, I've known Nancy for creating Gosparta.com and being the wife of my couch JT. She always did a wonderful job with the website and I know that many people thank her for that. She was a big part of our team, and the high school running program. We are all going to miss her.

I knew Nancy primarily because she was the wife of JT, but as my years at Sparta progressed, I got to know her a little better. She was always the one that did ALL the behind-the-scenes work for the cross country team. Although she did not go to every single meet, when she was there, she made her presence known by her support of ALL the runners. She made us all feel so special. God Bless.
