Ms. Nellie Mae Pattillo, the daughter of the late Jewel Smith and Tommy Roy Walker, was born January 22, 1937 in Chambers County, AL. She departed this life on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Midtown Medical Center, Columbus, GA.

At an early age Nellie Mae relocated to Harris County and Muscogee, GA, where she was reared by her grandparents, the late Charlie and Lena Middlebrooks.

Nellie confessed Christ and united with the St. John Baptist Church. In later years, she joined the Open Door Fellowship, where she served on the Mother’s Board.

She attended Tenth Street High School. She was a member of the West Point Pointers’ Social Club.

Nellie was employed by the George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement.

She loved her family dearly and was always there for them. She always greeted you with a “Big Smile” on her face.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Smith and a sister-in-law, Doris F. Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted nieces and nephews, Kiesha Smith, Alexis(Kenneth) Lott, Alexandria(Kip) Smith, Elizabeth(Corey) Smith, Eric(Kimberly)Smith, Valley, AL; a special great niece and caregiver, Lasheika(Donte) Smith, West Point, GA; an array of great nieces and nephews, special cousins, Ben(Kathy)Middlebrooks, Columbus and Ben Farley; special friend, Bobbie Wallace and a host of other family members and friends.
