I remember I was like 8 years old and mami was in the kitchen cooking. Maria, being the prankster she always was, turned the kitchen light on and off several times. I was in the living room and all I could hear was mami yelling "La Luz, Se Fue La Luz! Maria busca la nena, adonde esta la nena?"

Needless to say Maria got slapped for that one! LOL. Since I was "the baby" mami was always making sure I was right next her, she didn't like losing site of me. She was a sweet and protective mother to all of us. She was an amazing woman and anyone who knew her admired her.


She is sorely missed. There will always be a hole in my life that no one can ever fill.
