Her Life

Nicola

November 14, 2014

Nicola was a bubbly two year old, full of life and fun.  Blond hair and blue eyes a little heart breaker. She was our first daughter and we loved her to bits. I remember her saying her prayers one night and asking Jesus for a car for her birthday. of course we bought her a little blue car. Her eyes lit up when she uncovered it. and she rode round in it, aiming it at us declaring that "its Jesus' car".
We lived in Prestatyn North Wales where both her father and I worked in a nearby hospital in Rhyl. while we were at work Nicola was cared for in a nursery close by called Kiddieland, she loved it there.
I had recently found out that I was pregnant, we were all over the moon especially Nicky who couldnt wait for a brother or sister to play with.
On the 4th February 1972 I picked Nicky up from Nursery she had a cold and was abit under the weather, but apart from that she was fine. We had planned a special treat for the next day, to visit South Stack Lighthouse on Angelsey. So we set off Nicky was fine, but a little pale, halfway through the day she began to vomit so we returned home to our bungalow in Prestatatyn. The next day she began to have a fit and was rushed to the hospital where we were both employed. She was eventually diagnosed with mumps encelphalitis and passed away within two days. No one can ever appreciate the heartache that we all experienced. She will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.
