Top to toe at Davigdor Rd

September 28, 2013

Ellie, I was so moved to find this memorial to my cousin Nikki and so proud to see how much time and care you have taken in creating it, she would be so very proud of you both. It prompted me to add a memory of her as our family did visit your mum and Uncle Tim often when we were your age and younger.

I remember visiting and staying the night at Davigdor Road. I can't remember if my parents stayed also but there was your mum and Tim and the four of us. I have no idea how we all fitted in the bedrooms but I know that Liz and I slept in the same bed as your mum 'top to toe' as we called it then! I'm pretty sure we didn't get much sleep that night and must have kept your nan and grandad Tony awake too.

I also remember fondly, many occasions when we arrived at Davigdor Rd to visit your mum and family and Ben the golden labrador bounding to the front door to greet us. He always used to sniff us madly and nan and your mum would always say 'don't worry, just slap him on the nose and he will stop', so we did!! and it did work...poor Ben!

I do also remember being at your Mum and Dad's wedding which was at Hove town hall and the reception afterwards at a hotel I think. Your mum looked lovely and I remember she was really slim.

I hope you enjoy reading these memories and hope to see you all soon, Briony

when my mum leaves me alone...

May 16, 2011

the first story i will tell is when i was a toddler,i must have been about 2 or 3 i cant quite remember but what i do remember is my mum wad cooking dinner and i was in my high push chair.. and she went into the living room to speak to he mum(my nan) and in that time i remember pushing myself with the help of the counters to the fridge opening the door, getting the butter out, and eating over half a tub of butter all my myself, and by god i regret it ive never seen my mum so angry, but after a while weve laughed about untill the day she died, this was one of the few memories i remember of my mum...
