Visit in Colorado 2013

December 10, 2016

I was just looking at pictures again and remembered when Nina came to Loveland, Colorado to visit me for a week.  She drove in her last big van and was probably the last big road trip.  She had this really neat piece of art on her spare tire cover.  It had the son, moon, and seven stars and was called "The Seven Sisters".  I really liked it and she left it with me.  I cherish it and have it on the wall of my home.  I miss you sister.  Waiting for you to contact me as promised when you get settled wherever you are.  Love you big sister and miss you a lot.  Brother Bill

Birthdays

October 1, 2016

Some of my favorite times were the annual birthday parties we would have at Nina's house.  I would always come for a week and visit Nina and mom in September for my birthday.  The boys, Shannon, Brett, Derek, Levi, and Steve (brother from another mother) would come and we would have a big cook out.  Steve was the chef and Nina was the party "coordinator".  I always looked forward to that week and it was always a fantastic time.  I will miss those times a lot but have such great memories.  Thank you sister for making my day so special.  ;-)

Poem for Nina

September 25, 2016

Flames of Life

The flames that danced and shone so brightly,
pushing the darkness back from the circle of life
have died down now, the wood of life comsumed.
The embers, a dull russet hue
barely pulse with enough light
to keep the dark at bay.
Do not fear the night,
for it is the time to continue life
in a different direction.
To rest, to sleep, to dream, to feel no pain.
Free at last from the confinement
of an earthly bond.
Free to drift thru an endless universe
of pure energy,
and meet again those who went before.
Fear not the velvet blanket
as it settles slowly over you,
but embrace the warmth and freedom that it offers.
The fearful cling to life
as a young child clings to it's mothers dress
on the first day of school.
Let go and walk thru the open door
that leads to eternal life.
Your earthly light will live on in the
hearts and minds of those who love you.
Until we also let loose
and find you
dancing with the stars.

Nina ..the Lynn I knew

September 10, 2016

This photo is how I remember my sweet friend Lynn,  I can see her talking to me now...that beautiful face and that petite lady packed full of energy to spare.  40+ years we knew each other and I am so sadden by this loss.

Baby Nina

September 10, 2016

Nina was born when our Dad was in the Army Air Corps. Thst's why she was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, instead of in Moline like the rest of us.  Mom and I were with him some of the time where he was stationed in the southern states.  After she was born, Mom got a breast infection so she was in the hospital leaving Dad and I to care for Nina. When Mom got out of the hospital we headed back to Moline.  I was too young to really remember, but have heard the story of how Dad heated her bottles on the car radiator.
