2005 was my year 12 formal, Another milestone that I was lucky enough to have my nan there for! If only we could take one more photo together, share one more laugh, make one more memory.. I will never forget all the good times we shared Nan! You were, and always will be My Rock,

Love you always, Karlee xoxo

Doing the dishes!

December 5, 2010

Nita was with us on board Capricorn Dancer for the trip from Broome to Darwin. She quickly adjusted to life aboard (at 70 !) and commenced to cook up a storm in the galley. She also quickly learnt to steer a compass course and took her shifts on the wheel.

One night, at Cockatoo Island, north of Derby, she was fossicking (I think she invented fossicking) in knee deep coral crusted water, in the dark with her torch, when she slipped and grazed her knuckles. No serious damage.

Back on board, she announced "Coral cuts are prone to infection, so I'd better not do the dishes for a few days. But I can still cook!".

For the next 5 or 6 days we ate well, as Nita would cook up her usual storm in the galley. Then she would depart the galley so we could discover that she had used EVERY POT, PAN and UTENSIL on Capricorn Dancer. God Bless you NITA!

Laughter in the sand

November 13, 2010

The best memory I have of nan is one that always makes me laugh.  When we went to Beachport, SA in 2007, Nan came along with uncle Don as well.  We were out in the middle of the sand dunes and nan needed to go to the toilet.  So off she went over the dunes for a bit of privacy and when she came back she was laughing.  It had been a really windy day and when nan was doing her business the wind knocked her off balance midstream and she ended up in her own wee.   But as usual, nothing fazed nan and she took it all in her stride and laughed at her own expense.

That memory, along with many others, helps me through the hard days, when the tears wont stop and the heartache wont subside.  You were one of a kind Nan, special and brilliant in everyway.

I miss you xoxo

My Favorite Memories with Nan!!

November 13, 2010

There are so many favourite memories with my nan. I think my absolute favourite memory was My Adventures with Nan, Flinders Rangers & The hiking in Mt Baw Baw when there was no snow, where i had my first encounter with a topless hiker, nan just acted like it was just normal but i was so embarrassed.

Then when i had my first Baby Brianna, she came to stay with me in the first weeks of Brianna's life offering her support.

Nan was ever so supportive of my life, even in the times i made mistakes & the times of my sadness, nan was always there for me. Helping me with my two girls.

Nan you are never far from my thoughts, and when times get tough, i take comfort in the memories we shared, in times when i am hurting, i close my eyes and remember your soft smile & i smile if only for that second i remember.

The girls & i miss you so much nan!!!

All my Love
