Her Life

My mother- My best friend

April 5, 2013

My mom was someone very well liked by anyone who knew her. She loved to go dancing with my father, eat at nice restaurants and loved to read her Harlequin Romance novels. There is to this day a rack of Harlequin Romance novels at the Galesburg Public Library dedicated to her memory. She worked at Block and Cool a clothing department store in Galesburg prior to meeting my father at the Refrigerator Club a private social club. They married on February 10, 1949. She believed in the sanction of marriage and celebrated 40 years with my father Ralph Quanstrom prior to her death in 1990.  He survives and recently celebrated his 93rd Birthday. Four years into their marriage  my sister Susan  was born, followed three years later by myself. Mom was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is loviningly watching over  2 grandaughters who have since given her 3 great grandaughters (one deceased ) and three great grandsons. I find this  ironic as she once told me her favorite number was 3 !  She believed in having an education and encouraged everyone to pursue their dreams. She attended Knox College for one year and quit to help her father run his grocery store. She joins both of her parents in heaven as well as her two brothers and recently was joined by her great grandaughter Tangela.  I can't think of anyone else I would want my grandaughter to be with. Love you Mom.
