Former Owner of Anderson’s Country Store

Norma Jean Miletta (nee Sample), 76, of Centerton passed away on Saturday, November 3rd 2012 surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. She was diagnosed with esophageal cancer six months ago and has been courageously battling this disease with the support of her family and friends.

Norma was born on March 11, 1936 in the small coal mining town of Glen Richey, PA. She was the daughter of the late Lenore Evelyn (Sample) Swartz and the step- daughter of the late Chester Hayes Swartz.

Norma moved to Oil City Pa when she was seven and graduated from Oil City High in 1954. After graduation, she married George William Anderson and a short while later moved to Bridgeton, NJ.

She worked at the Bridgeton Hosiery Mill and Terrignos Bakery and in the summers, from 1965 through 1973, she ran the concession stand at Palatine lake while caring for five young children.

In 1973 Norma and George Anderson purchased Anderson’s Country Store. Norma became sole owner of the store in 1983. Many customers knew her as “Norma Jean, Queen of the Subs”

She married John Joseph Miletta on March 10, 1995. She often said she had met her “best friend and the love of her life in Anderson’s Country store.”

After the sale of Anderson’s in 1997, Norma took up the hobby of agility training. She entered her prize winning Rotty named Scarlet in an Open Jumpers and Weaves agility competition in 2002 and Scarlett was named one of the top ten Rottweiler’s in the Country. Scarlet also achieved the esteemed title of Registered Therapy Dog.

Norma is known to most people as a woman with an immense love of dogs especially for her two favorite breeds Rottweiler’s and Bull Terriers, but to her family she was also known as a great wife, wonderful mother and the best friend we will ever have.

Survivors include her husband John Miletta of Centerton, NJ, three daughters, Cheryl Wilbourn of Kenosha Wisconsin, Jackie Hawk of Upper Deerfield, NJ, and Sandy Anderson from Upper Deerfield, NJ, one son, George Anderson of Kenosha Wisconsin, one stepdaughter Marlene Andres of Ocean City, NJ and one stepson, David Miletta of Landisville, NJ
