ForeverMissed

It’s difficult to speak of either Norma or George without also speaking of the other.  Norma has now joined George to continue their lifetime mission of love and service.  They raised five children—two daughters (Margaret and Marsha) and three sons (George, Merrill, and Robert) and taught them the principles of hard work and responsibility on the farm which Norma’s father homesteaded in the late 1800s.  While Norma’s father had primarily raised horses and cattle, she and George added more acreage and raised wheat.  Their sons carried on the family farm after they retired.

Always a teacher at heart, Norma continued her education after some of her children were married.   She earned a master’s degree in Special Education.  She taught for a number of years and was greatly loved by her students.

In their retirement years, George and Norma served for numerous years at the Logan Temple.  George continued on after Norma had to retire due to health reasons.

George left this world on July 3, 1986, and Norma joined him eight years and three days later.

Logan City Water Department

July 16, 2020
In the late 1988 I moved to Logan as I had recently started a new job at Nucor Steel I moved into studio apartment a short distance from my Grandma, Marsha & Kami I remember coming over & helping a little with a few things but it was Uncle Robert & I’m sure many others that helped far more than I did. So I remember driving to work on the swing shift 3-11Pm one day & thinking it’s time to turn the sprinklers on I must have noticed others watering there lawns. Well I believe it must of been about this time my grandma is thinking the same thing because the next morning when I went over I discovered she had turned them on & as the lines filled up she made her way back upstairs the problem was there was a pencil size drain plug that the cap hadn’t been put back on from the fall draining so when I arrived some 16 hours later her basement now had 2 or 3 inches of water in it I shut the water off put the plug on that was sitting on a shelf called Uncle Robert & went home I don’t believe there was anything I could do at the time. Of coarse I told grandma about the situation probably ask her if she was wanting a swimming pool & if I should leave the water on, I know not the nicest grandkid after arriving back to my place I decided I would call grandma up pretending to be the man at the Logan City Water department ( Mrs Perry I don’t know what’s going on over there but my gauges indicate a heavy drain on the city water supply and if she continued I was fearful that there wouldn’t be enough water for the other people in the city. I’m going to Hell I know or at minimum a desert with no water. I did shortly after go over & confess to my grandma what I had done but I’m not sure it gave her any relief. She put up with a lot having me around & I hope she forgives me for my teasing
