Norman Best, 78, of Warsaw died Friday, April 25, 2014 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC. Funeral service will be 1:00pm Saturday, May 03, 2014 at KEMBA Headquarters Building, Warsaw, NC with Dr. Evelina Oliver officiating. Interment will be in Devotional Gardens of Warsaw. Visitation will be held 5:30pm-8:00pm Friday, May 02, 2014 at St. Jude Church of Christ Disciple of Christ Church, 119 W. Peirce St, Warsaw. Norman Best is the son of the late Rev. Howard and Easter Best.  He was also preceded in death by one sister Juanita Herring and five brothers Jessie, Oscar, Alvester, Howard and James Best.   He was the man of many occupations and was quick to tell you, “you will see”.  He was a good provider for his family and he knew how to make a dollar and stretch it to the fullest.  He received his education at Duplin County Schools. (Douglas High, better known as Warsaw Middle School)  Norman also served as a Mason at the Tyre Lodge #60 in Warsaw where he faithfully attended until his health started to fail him.  He was the owner of N&M Restaurant for 9 years, and Starlight Lounge and Community center for a few years.  He was also a member of the Community Action Association and the NACCP.  He was also a member of Black Farmers Association just to name a few of his accomplishments.   Norman was a member of St. Jude Church of Christ Disciple of Christ Church, where he remained faithful until his health begin to fail him.  Norman loved the church and was willing to do all he could for it.   He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 57 years Marie Harvey Best.  Two daughters: Cynthia Moore, Silver Springs, MD.; Gloria (Cecil) McDuffie of Warsaw, NC.  A son James Norman proceeding in death.  One sister Sarah Spencer of Jacksonville, NC.  Three grandchildren Cecil (Lakisha) McDuffie of Warsaw, NC, David Moore II, of Silver Spring MD, Kareem McDuffie of Warsaw, NC.  Three great-grandchildren Kiari, Devon and Sabrina Moore of Silver Spring, Md.  Three sisters-in-laws Melissa (Edward) Britt, Flint, MI; Edith Best of Warsaw, NC and Irene Best of Washington, DC.  One Brother-In-Law Jimmie (Barbara) Harvey of Flint, MI. Special Friends and Caregivers: Sawara Mathis (Heart), Barbara Faison, Dexter Jones, Grayling Herring and Michael Best of Warsaw, NC and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
