Norman Gene Alumbaugh, 87, passed away peacefully a little before midnight on November 26, 2014 at his home in Napa, California.

Born October 16, 1927 in Sullivan, Indiana to Fletcher Alumbaugh and Buelah Davis, he has a sister (Diane Ford) and brother (Delyn Alumbaugh, deceased).  He married Vi Hurt (deceased) in 1947 and had three children, settling in San Pablo, CA.  He moved to Richmond, CA and then to Walnut Creek, CA where he lived for many years.  He married Evonne in 1983 and lived in Pope Valley, CA until he moved to Napa, CA in the last few years.  Norm was builder, developer, vintner of Eagle and Rose Estate Winery, experimental aircraft builder, pilot, fly fisherman, and active in many associations including Master of the Masonic Lodge, President of the Home Builder’s Association, and member of the Rotary and Mt. Diablo Pilot’s Association.

Norm is survived by his wife (Evonne Gwen Chandler Alumbaugh), and her daughters (Nancy Chandler and Laurie Michaels), his sister (Diane Ford), his 3 children (Linda Barton, Dennis Alumbaugh, and David Alumbaugh), 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and countless other family and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday December 8, at the Napa Elks Lodge, 2840 Soscol Avenue, Napa, CA.
