OB Melson was born May 27, 1936 in Hogansville GA to the late Robert & Mary Lee Jackson Melson. He was the third of fourteen children twelve of which proceeded him in death. He lived a very joyful life in which he found great joy and pleasure in spending time with his family in which he loved and valued greatly.

He was a longstanding member of Wadley Chapel United Methodist Church of Cornith, GA. He resided in Atlanta Georgia where he retired as a devoted employee of Fulton County, prior to his return to Hogansville GA, where he resided until his death. OB contributed to the establishment of esteemed structures of Fulton County including the Fulton County Stadium.

He will be greatly missed as he was a man who took great pleasure in helping others as much as he could. He leaves to cherish his loving wife Rozell Melson, one brother, Charlie Melson, one brother-in-law Willie Spearman, one sister-in-law Ruby Pearl Melson, one daughter Mr. & Mrs. Earl Wilkey (Leola). Seven step-children, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
