They say time flies even when you are not having fun. Another year has flown by so quickly and the void is still very great. I have chosen to remember the wonderful times we shared together, twin hearts, a love that was difficult to comprehend by those with little hearts. You always had a large capacity to give love and I doff my hat to you even in your absence.

You were a special one indeed! my giant teddy bear!!!

I am sure you must have seen Regi Regi over there. She also left without saying goodbye. She had a lovely send off from us. You would have been very proud of what we did. However the party was not complete without you. Your absence on that solemn ocassion was all so so glaring. You were always the party maker!

Sleep tight my love, keep partying in heaven and have a very well deserved rest with the Lord.

Gone indeed too soon.

Your photos, my constant companion

February 4, 2013

Oby my dearest, It's one year today since you did me a cruel trick. A day that I would rather wish away. As the days have gone by it has become increasingly real that you are no longer here.  It is still like a bad dream with no waking up. I spend a great deal of time having conversations with your photos. It might sound crazy but that's very therapeutic for me despite the fact that its a one sided conversation. I miss not having you ask me what it will take to make me stop talking.

Gone truely too soon!!!!. May your soul find perfect rest in the bossom of the Almighty, where there is no toil nor sorrow.

Miss you loads.

My dearest, the past few weeks have been very difficult. Coming close to xmas. This time last year I was all excited, shopping, and doing last minute preparations and getting ready to fly down to Naija to see you. The memories of a very wonderful xmas and the time we shared together is forever playing in my mind. It's quite tough knowing that I can't make that exciting  journey anymore with you at the other end to give me that wicked smile and a bear hug. Home will never be the same again without you. Seeing only your pictures and not being able to speak to or hug you again is heart renching. I miss you soooo much!

May your lovely soul continue to rest in peace with the Lord.

Thinking of you.

From Singapore with Love, Tears, and Smiles.

I was introduced to Oby in 2004, when I went to Abuja with my then business partner. I saw a taller than life man with that big smile. We got to know each other better when he came over to Singpaore to sort some business dispute, he had a big heart I felt. Then he came over again to Singapore, but now as a business partner and friend... The rest of the time we shared were mainly through email and phone... I am still in shock, I been trying to reach him for the past few days, to consult him on some business matters, as it has been too long for us to catch up. Still wondering what exactly happened??? Please anyone kindly ask the family to email me at eyjk2002@yahoo.com Lady T how are you and the family???

P.S. Oby just keep the drink chill for me, we will drink soon. Cheers my Brother!

Best regards and Love always,

Eric and Ashley (Singapore)

In June 1996, I left Enugu to lagos for my Students' Industrial training. I came into Lagos full of enthusiasm that I will soon get a job in a company. Well 3 months passed without a job. A friend and a class mate of mine told me of his uncle Obi and encouraged me to go. I made the necesaary phone calls and finally I went to MODULAR COMPUTERS then in the Western House. When I came in I requested to see the MD and was asked if I was on appointment, which i replied in affirmative. I saw Ob,i then attending to many office issues as well as visitors and clients. I knew immediately without being told he was the MD. He was told i was waiting for him. He walked up to me and asked, gentleman who are you looking for and how can we help you? I had learnt that even when things were down and hard that the best way to handle things was having a big smile on your face. I was smiling and said sir I have come to see the MD. And he asked me who the MD was, I told him he was the MD. He jokingly asked how i knew he was the MD. I told him i knew he was the MD because of the way things were being run in the office. We had a very nice discussion and without asking where I was from, who I was and who told me to come or that there was no job in the office he just made sure I go a job. Modular Computers gave me the background of all i now know in computers. Obi as my boss made sure I learnt a lot in the computer business. He made sure that my stay in Lagos as a student was painless. He and his wife Tina (Lady T) were so nice to me. Exceedingly nice. They made sure I was not lacking and treated me as a member of their family. When I came back home to Enugu to finish up school I told my mum about him. The day my mum saw him she asked what prompted him to give a stranger, someone he never knew a job in his establishment. He said that what moved him was the smile I had on my face. Obi gave me the name ALAYE... he said because I was living in Lagos Island then. He was the only one who could call me by that name ALAYE. Most of what I learnt from him I still use till today.
REST IN PEACE IN THE BOSSOM OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST MY BIG BOSS. You will forever be remembered in the hearts of those you touched their lives positively in so many ways.

 Oby!
When my brother first told me i shouted it cant be true !  I challenged him , I cried and asked him to confirm over and over again. Who are we to challenge death.! We are created and we must  leave life's stage, but yours was so soon .. too soon.. too too soon , but  I than God for your wonderful life!
You were always fun to be with. Full of laughter and full of cheer and ready to help. You were always there for our family and now I cant even help turn around your passage !.
I  have always been noisy but it was even more rewarding that i could find someone so full of laughter !  I  will always remember you for the laughter and smile you carried around and  your positive disposition. Thats the gift you gave to people who knew you and I am thankful and grateful to God that  we crossed path.

I wish you did not have to go so soon, but I know that you are surrounded by the Angels and God's bossom arms.

I miss you and I pray that your wife Christy  will find Gods  strength in this period.

The first time I met Obi at one of the Umuneke's monthly meetings, I thought to myself, uhmmm, this man has an intimidating presence to him. subsequently, I was quite taken in and impressed about the ways Obi used jokes to make everyone around him feel very relaxed and comfortable. I'm sure Obi had so many exciting stories from his life experiences. One that stuck with me and still makes me laugh hard is a story about 'predicament' which himself and Ben Ene understood so well and shared heartily between themselves!! That was really funny.

Obi's fashion was intriguing. He had this nice boyish sense of fashion? A funky way to dressing that you would ordinarily not have expected from an older man. Only Obi could get away with that!!

Did I fail to mention his love for his culture ? Especially, his dance steps to .the 'achikolo song!! This dance was always the highlight to most events he attended. I secretly and I think as most people did, used to look forward to his dance as I was sure to be well entertained.

The day I heard of Obi's passing on was a very dark day. I wished in my heart that my husband was not talking about the same Obi. The reality hit me on a visit to Tina (Obi's wife) and she confirmed the sad news.

.Obi's giant appearance was contrary to his very gentle nature. He would be the type I would have described as a'gentle giant!! REST IN PEACE Obi, YOU WILL FOREVER LIVE IN OUR HEARTS.
