BIOGRAPHY

December 25, 2013

Our brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, in-law and friend, OLUSEGUN OLAGOKE AINA was born in Ibadan to the family of BABAJIDE OLAKUNLE & BERNICE OLUBUNMI (nee Phelan) AINA (both of blessed memory) on 12th June, 1964. He was the last born of many children but has preceded all his paternal siblings into eternity.

He attended primary school at Mary Hill Convent School, Iwo Road, Ibadan. He then went on to the Lagos Baptist Academy, Ikorodu Road (1975-1980), which his father, two of his senior brothers and three nephews also attended. He went to Federal Government College, Ijanikin (1980-1982) for Advanced Levels after which he studied at the University of Lagos, Akoka and graduated B. Sc (Hons) Economics in 1988. He served the nation in Sokoto State teaching at the Government Secondary School, Yeldu in 1988/89 where he won a State Award for his service year.

He worked as an Economic Correspondent with Republic Press from 1990 to 1993 and with Josefenz Nigeria Ltd as Market Researcher in 1995/96. He also worked with the Lagos State Civil Service briefly in 2000/2001. He got married to his longtime sweetheart, Margaret (nee Ogbeta) in November 2000 and they were blessed with their daughter, Oluwapelumi Olayinka on their first wedding anniversary.

Olusegun had a running battle with alcohol addiction most of his adult life which did not allow him to live his life to the full and which has now led him to this early grave. On occasion he fellowshipped in RCCG Grace Parish from their early days at NIJ House, Ogba and he introduced his big sister, Oladunni and his wife to this parish where Margaret and ‘Pelumi now fellowship.

He passed into glory in Lagos on Friday, Nov 22nd, 2013. We mourn his passing before all his older siblings. We are very pained and saddened by his cut-short life and the way he passed on. We bless God because Jesus came for such as him and give thanks to God Almighty, standing on His promises.
