His Life
August 1, 2014

Lewis, Otis, Jr., 74, was born on May 2, 1940 to the late Otis Lewis, Sr. and Carrie Bell Lewis. His parents died when he was very young and he was raised by his aunt, Lucille “Sookie” Turner who preceded him in death.

At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and joined the County Line A.M.E. Zion Church. He attended Alabama State University and received his certification in landscaping machine repair. Otis was affectionately known as the “lawnmower man” because of his great skills and was a very recognizable figure in the Union Springs community.

On July 22, 2014, God dispatched an angel from Heaven to earth to escort Otis home to be with Him and receive his crown of glory.

Otis and Rebecca were the parents of eight children. He leaves behind these precious treasures as a testament of the life he lived, Barbara (Judge Aubrey) Ford, Tuskegee, AL, Beatrice (Willie) Willis, Opelika, AL, Otis (Kimberly) Lewis, Roberta (Harry) Frazier, Jerry (Debra) Lewis, Tuskegee, AL, Tracey Lewis, Cynthia Lewis and LaTeresa “Buzzard Killer” (Gerald) Crayton, all of Tuskegee, AL; a special loving and devoted friend, Debbie Calhoun, Union Springs, AL; sixteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

The staff of Carter Funeral Home is honored to have served the family of the late Otis Lewis, Jr. and join the family in an extreme expression of gratitude for the care and support extended to them during the illness and demise of their precious loved one.
