About the death
Tragic Owen Ford, 19, was found floating in the resort of Cala de Bou on Sunday morning.
The painter and decorator, from Perth, had only travelled to the party hotspot with pals the previous night.
His shattered mum Jackie, 48, was last night preparing to fly to the isle to bring her youngest son’s body home.
She said: “I just want to hold him and see him.
“He was such a funny laddie, brilliant at impersonating people. He always had me in laughs.
“We are a very close-knit family and right now this is just too much to take.”
St Johnstone fan Owen was found in the Mirador de Cap Nono pool at 6.30am on Sunday — a short distance from his own hotel.
A pal had the grim task of identifying Owen’s body before the teen’s mum and brothers Louis, 23, and Mitchell, 21 were informed.
A preliminary post mortem report has ruled out any suspicious circumstances or foul play.
Police on the isle are investigating why Owen was at the apartment building, several minutes walk from the hotel he and friends were staying.
The teenager had recently signed for amateur football side Scone Thistle.
He was named Perth College’s young apprentice of the year just two weeks ago.
Owen’s shocked boss Ewan Bannerman said last night: “He was a great kid.
“He was quiet, polite, unassuming and was popular with everyone. You always got a wave and a smile when you saw him.”
