PAPA ANYE PETER NGANG AKA Usman Chafo Ngang

 

Papa Anye Peter Ngang was born in the year 1930 in Mankon, to Tata Anye Daniel and Nimo Martha Lum.

By 1940, he attended the Vanecular School Ntingkag, and moved over to the Basel Mission School Nsem Bafut in the year 1941.

In 1947, he travelled on foot to Buea through Mamfe, Kumba and Tiko, and in 1948 he obtained his Standard Six Certificate at the Basel Mission School Buea town.

In 1949, he started work with the Cameroon Development Cooperation (CDC) as a trolley driver in Moliwe, Tiko and Misellele.

By 1952, he left the CDC and became a driver to the Paramount Chief of Victoria (Chief Motombi Woleta).

In 1960, he joined the Public Service as a Caterpillar driver with the Public Works Department. He worked in Mamfe, Kumba, Victoria and Tiko.

In 1964, he was transferred to Bamenda. He took part in the maintenance of the Trunk roads from Widikum through Bamenda to Nkambe. He then completed the creation of the famous Bamenda Ring Road: Bamenda-Nkambe-Missaje-Isu-Wum-Bamenda. He remained in this sector, grading and maintaining roads in the then North West Province of Cameroon.

In 1982, he retired from the public service. Since then, he has been socially active in the Mankon society in many ways.

By 1993, he was manager of SCAN WATER – a water project for the supply of portable water for the Mankon community.

In 2003, he was president of Mankon Cooperative.

In 2006, he left for the United States of America on a pleasure trip where he spent four (4) years.

In 2010, he returned to Cameroon.

He died at the Bamenda Regional hospital on the 22nd of December 2013.

He leaves behind his sisters and brothers, wives, children, grandchildren, great grandchild, in-laws, a big Christian family in Alachu and world wishers to celebrate his life.
