His Life

Pastor MacArthur Blount was born on August 27, 1951 to the late Betty Jean Tigner and McKinley (Kent) Colton.  He departed this life on September 15, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home. He is preceded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.  Pastor MacArthur Blount joined Zion Hill Baptist Church at an early age.  He later joined New Saint John Baptist Church but came back and joined his home church, Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.  He worked at the City of Atlanta Sewer Department where he later retired on March 16, 1998.  

Pastor MacArthur Blount was a caring and loving person.  He loved to work with anyone that he could help.  He also helped a lot of preachers to get where they are today.  

Pastor MacArthur Blount was the Pastor of Mt. Prospect Church until he past.  He also pastored other churches and worked with a lot of groups and pastors:

Old Ship of Zion - Atlanta, Georgia
Little Moses Chapel Baptist Church - Atlanta, Georgia
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church - Sharpsburg, Georgia
Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church - Greenville, Georgia
Mt. Prospect Baptist Church - Moreland, Georgia
Deacon Harrison Smith Prayer Band
Mighty Nights Gospel Singers
Zion Hill Male Chorus - Greenville, Georgia
Central Holiness Church and many others.  

He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory, one daughter, Pearline (John) Ledbetter; three sisters, Carolyn Tigner, Gloria Brodie, Cynthia (Bruce) Amey; four brothers, Jerry Tigner, Kennis (Gwendolyn) Colton, Gregory Colton, Mack Arthur (Betty) Owens; seven  grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three aunts; one great aunt, Georgia Snelling; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.   Etoy Williams, Carolyn Williams, Nadaja Colston, Carolyn Tigner and Johnny Blount, Sr. were his caretakers until the time of death.
