Today, June 2, 2016, my brother Paul would have celebrated his 50th birthday. Happy Birthday Paul! Not a day goes by that I do not think of him. Cancer took him away from us way too soon in the prime of his life. I will never understand it, nor will I ever get over it. Thankfully his legacy will remain on through his precious children Holt and Alexa. I am proud and thankful to be their aunt. I will always uphold the promise I made to my brother...I will help look after and protect your children for a song as I live. Paul...Here's to you on your 50th birthday! If there is a party in Heaven...I know you are having one today..drinking a cold one, listening to Hank, and swinging a club or two. One day we will meet again! Until then...keep being our guardian angel and know I will be keeping the promise I made to you. I miss you Paul Heyward!

The first time I met Paul was out on the golf course, I got paired up with him on the same team and we won about $80, needless to say we became friends from there on out. He took his golf game as serious as he did his yard and spending time with his family, and trust me Paul hated to lose a bet! I'm certain he was a great father and husband, and those memories will last a lifetime, so cherish them. He was always fun to be around and lived his life to the fullest! May the Lord watch over your family, and comfort them in times of need. If there's one thing I learned from Paul it was to always do things the right way and to the best of your ability, and I hope that your children learned that from you growing up like I did over the years. Rest in peace.

Not a week passes that I read or experience something that makes me remember fondly my old college roommate and life friend Paul. Like his dad, Paul was a man's man. He Loved his family, his political party, his alma mater, golf, the mountains, a cold beer and a good steak. Most of all he loved his country.  The world misses you my friend. We need more human beings with your passion and common sense; your ethical mindset and under all that rough exterior, your heart.  God rest your soul and we will see you again someday.

I did not get to know Paul as well as I might have liked. But, it was clear that he valued the important things..Like his children, his wife, his parents and family and the time spent with all of them. He married my sweet cousin, Danis...One of the strongest, smartest women I know. So, to me, that means that he too was smart and appreciated having the best. :) My prayer is that Danis, Holt and Alexa will always carry only the best, happiest memories of Paul as they continue with their lives..And, know that he and our Heavenly Father are watching over them.

Danis -

I am so glad that we have gotten to know you, Paul, Holt and Alexa. Baseball brings families together in a unique way. Paul was always giving encouragement to Dalton (and also to me as a parent that he was going to be a great ball player with a hard work).

He was always pleasant and had a welcoming smile as we approached the baseball field. Some memories may fade for your children, but in their heart, they will always fell his warmth and remember his smile. I know he cared deeply for you all.

God's blessings and I am thinking and praying for you so much.

I didn't know Paul but if his children are any reflection of him, he was a wonderful person. He and Danis have raised two children that have traits all parents wish for-kind, caring, friendly and smart. Remember the things about Paul that made you smile.Thinking of you and may God give you comfort.
