We miss you dearly
all your friends;
From the deep south to the Midwest
Your buds and your kin;
Your passion for life
Was matched by precious few;
You were the best person under 70
That I ever knew;
First time I met you
You extended your hand
And proceeded to try to squeeze
Until I could not stand;
Despite that gruff outside
You had a heart of Gold;
And appreciated those
Who were wise and old;
You were close to your folks
And they loved you so much
You made them proud
Since you never had a crutch
Failure was not an option
Or in your persona
I always marveled
How you were gonna
Make a million by 40
By saving a lot
And not forgetting
How you kept what you got;
You loved Reagan, the US and the western Carolina hills
The Gamecocks good food
And of course
The Tar Heels;
We always knew
we could count on you to be ready
Since you kept a toolbox in the trunk
Of your Chevy;
We also knew
To give you more time to primp
Since it took you longer
To get spruced up like a pimp;
You met a great lady
And she took your last name
I always knew
You two were meant to be the same;
She cooked chicken like Sa Sa
And knew how to cut grass
And still knew somehow
To manage to stay on your ass
Cause despite your wisdom
You needed her to stay grounded
Danis you have done great
And we all are astounded
At your resolve
And ability as a mate
To remain with us
A great teammate;
God threw away the mold
When he made Paul the third
He never missed a chance
To call a turd a turd;
We all miss you deeply
But hang on to our good thought
But it broke our hearts
As you kicked cancer and fought
The good fight you still won
Despite our loss and grief
We know you are in a better place
And out of pain and have relief;
So take out your three wood
And hit a long drive
We all look forward
To seeing you again
On the other side.
I cannot tell you how much we miss you
So this small poem will just have to do.
When I see the mountains
I will always think of YOU.
Love
Your friends on Earth
