Let the memory of Paul be with us forever

This memorial website was created in the memory of our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Paul McKennan, 63, born on August 28, 1948 and passed away on August 30, 2011. We will remember him and miss him every day.

We have another site created that friends and family have been linked to and can post to.  This is another memorial for him created by his sister-in-law.  Maybe as a way of working through her own grief.

His life ended quickly, without warning, and way too soon.

What is Death?
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
that we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without affect,
without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you,
for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just around the corner.

All is well.

"Hard to believe it has been two years!  Today is the 2nd anniversary of Frankie's arrival to our home --  we both miss you very much, but celebrate your life every day!  As we remember the devastating loss of so many in NYC (your wonderful city!) on 9/11/2001, we cherish  memories and pray and hope for a better future for all."

"Thanks for your messages Carol! Frankie is a sweet boy and lucky to have such a great home. We are very grateful to you for taking such good care of him. We missed Paul a lot during the holidays.  Stories were shared about him during Christmas dinner.  My daughter is going to NY in January to visit a friend that is attending NYU and we wish Uncle Paul was there to show her around NYC!"

"I think of Paul so often and miss him very much.  I know that he is watching over me and happy that Frankie and I are doing so well.  Frankie has been a wonderful companion during this past year and I am so grateful that I have been able to provide a comfortable home for him. He is a daily reminder of Paul and his love ---"

"Today it's been a year since Paul passed away.  I think about him often. In my office I have a huge picture of the NY skyline. Ironic that I put that picture up right before we got the news he passed away and had to rush to NY.  We have pictures from his house up in our house. His beloved cat Frankie is doing well. I still can hear Paul's hearty laugh and that makes me smile....."
