Paul Needham passed away at his home peacefully at the age of 50. Paul is survived by his two brothers Jeff and Mark, and sister Rae Anne.

Paul grew up in Crawfordsville, Indiana and was a graduate of Purdue University.

Paul has been an extremely valuable member of the Oracle Database Security team for more than 17 years. This September would have marked his 24th year at Oracle. Starting with his initial work for the United States Government, Paul had become the focal point for all product management activities for database security and was a fierce advocate for database security everywhere. Paul was heading a group of product managers at Oracle HQ in Redwood City, CA.

Paul was a cherished colleague and friend to many of us. He will be greatly missed.
