Mr. Percy, My dad, My Hero

Percy Flennory was born in 1899. He was called "Mr. Percy ." His oldest daughter Atherias was born in the 1920's to his wife Clara. Atherias Mayfield Nee "White." Atherias is still alive at age 82+, she lives in Trinity Gardens, Alabama.

Mr. Percy retired at age 62, he moved his family west in 1975 for better opportunities. He lived a life that would be envied by many people. And because his life was filled with travel, adventure and many experiences, he fulfilled his dreams and was at peace with his accomplishments.

Although he was very strict, he was also a loving father. My dad worked without taking any sick time off. He endured his grandmother's death in 1959, his mother's in 1960 and his loving wife's death in 1961; So, In overcoming all that, I knew what a strong and determined man he was! He survived that grieving process, by bouncing back Like a Phoenix. He just gathered the ashes and went on to raise his seven dependent children. He never married again, my dad stood tall. He worked always to better his life. As he provided for these seven children. Later in life he also helped raised 5 Great grandchildren after nourishing one granddaughter, Angel to adulthood. He loved his all family very much.

And if my dad had any weakness, it was seeking perfection. And to that end, he married five times. " He fathered 10 children. My mother, "Eliza", nee Moppins was wife # 5. They were marriage until her early death at age 50 and that was 28 years later. Eliza and Percy married in 1933.

In summary, Percy Flennory was more than your average "Joe." He fought a the good fight. In the end I discover that he did most of the things that interest him by doing them "His way."

He lost his struggle for life in one major blow, a heart attack at age 89. The doctors unsuccessfully tired to save him. He succumbed to death on August 30, 1989. Leaving behind a grieving Granddaughter and host of other grieving Children, Grandchildren, relatives and friends.
