Our Family Photo when we were small...

August 18, 2011

This picture was taken in the 60’s in San Andres , Manila, Philippines. This was part of my grandma’s compound (my mother side) where my Aunts and Uncles including us were given a one door apartment each to start your own small family. This was given among my mother’s side family to all her children. Every Christmas day all the siblings of my Mom with their families would come spend Christmas Day opening gifts from whoever had brought and had a festive array of home cooked foods from grandma and aunts. There were also games… so this was part of the reunion… My mom always dressed us up so pretty. We would take a picture of each family for souvenir as we grow up each year. In this picture , Dad had his moustache like a cowboy… and Mom looks like she belongs to the movies…she looks like an actress…very beautiful…. I know I do have gorgeous parents and adorable siblings. I love them all and I can’t ask for more…

On the left is Cathy, Mommy Connie, Dickie, Daddy Pete and MariChris...

The Artist ...

August 15, 2011

Daddy Pete painted and signed this in 1995 after he moved to Baguio. He started painting as a hobby after his stroke. It was a good therapy for him. I personally selected this frame for his painting. The colors are so rich that I decided on a dark frame that complimented it. I gave this painting to Mom after it was framed.

This painting is very similar to the painting I have on "My House" album on facebook. Peter had handcarried that painting from Mallorca, Spain and he bought it from a restaurant while the Artist had a show.

Daddy Pete has more paintings that I have not seen yet. Good job Dad !

Our Handsome Dad

August 10, 2011

This picture was taken when our Dad was in his 20's. God gave us a very handsome and loving father. We can not ask for more. We carrried his genes, The rest of the family are all just as gorgeous. Thank you Dad. Sometimes we wonder if we could live on earth forever and not ever loose anyone we love. But God is the only person that can answer that. He knows when we will be born, who our parents are going to be, how many strands of hair we have in our head...and most of all he knows when He will take us. He took my Dad home with him so my Dad will no longer suffer on earth, he will never be lonely again. He is now happy in Heaven with his Creator. Will you remember me if we see each other in heaven?

Visiting Dad in Baguio

August 9, 2011

Every few months , or if any of our family would arrive from abroad, we would plan to go up to Baguio to visit my dad , he was staying at the Green Valley Country Club Villas where he was also hired as the Manager for a set of country European style Villas... it was a beautiful place and we loved it... our family would enjoy the country club amenities , my kids would play bowling, badminton, horse back riding and many more activities... Swimming was too cold for them. Spending time there for at least a week was a treat for all of us...But most importantly , spending time with Dad during dinners at our units just to catch up.... it was really fun and my dad loved it very much and he would be in tears as soon as we would set for home to Manila...

In this photo, Daddy, MariChris and Cathy visiting us from Aptos and Soquel,  CA....

Christmas Reunion at Uncle Mike's Home

August 9, 2011

There's Uncle Mike (who passed away just about 3 years ahead of Dad) and my Lola Marcella , Auntie Cely ( their eldest sister) and daddy Pete.

Dad was a natural seafood lover and a good cook...

August 9, 2011

My dad loved to cook for his family.... some favorite dishes he would cook during Sundays were Fabada ( Spanish Red Beans with Beef Shanks and cabbage) ,  his gabi leaves that he wraps crab meat (called in Tagalog "Tinumok") and cooked in coconut milk was one of the best, some Spanish dishes like Callos, Estofado, Bacalao, Pochero, Fish Escabeche, and all sorts of seafoods and delicious fish dishes. Would you believe he eats the fish with bones and slowly brings out the bones one by one as if straining it in his mouth... it was a surprise for us kids... he loves to show us unusual things. He was a natural lover of fishes, he is very good at the art of deboning our Bangus fish (milkfish) and he went into the business of exporting boneless bangus to Saudi Arabia in bulk.  He loves to fish... the reason why he bought 5 trolls or fish boats docked in Cavite...

In this page.... different photos of Dad.... and in Baguio with Dickie , Daddy Pete, MariChris and Roy...we were walking Daddy around savoring the cool breeze and posed for a photo...

Daddy Pete and his siblings....

August 9, 2011

Daddy Pete and his siblings .....Auntie Cely the eldest (lower left) , Auntie Leonie (lower right), and Uncle Mike the youngest  (upper right).  Because their father left them at an early age (when Daddy Pete was only 15 yrs old) , they learned to keep up with life together until Uncle Mike finished his college. where the brothers would stay with their sisters family till they can start on their own...I remember staying with Auntie Cely at one time .....and my sister Cathy and i would spend our summer vacations at Auntie Leonie's home in Magallanes Village , Makati. This picture was taken in Uncle Mike' home when Auntie Leonie visited us here from Wisconsin. This is one rare picture of them all together.

Visiting Daddy every six months...

August 9, 2011

When Daddy was in Baguio after his first few strokes , my brother Dickie and I will plan to go up to Baguio from Manila together with his family or any family member who would like to come along. We make sure that we do that every six months or so...We would plan a 4-6 days stay to see Daddy and take him around for pasyals (meaning driving or walking around) and try their new restaurants. My brother has an advertising business and he would have his projects like Bear Brand kite-flying contests during summertime and Daddy Pete, as we all call him, loved watching these activities with us. You can see the geniune happiness he has inside when we are there, he has this smile and laugh that brings him to joyful tears at times.  We stayed at a Condominium near his home and he comes knocking on our door at 7am so he can maximize his time with us. then we would cook big breakfasts for everyone and plan to go out and grab lunch in town. It was fun to see him always. You can see how happy he was to be around us. It was a special bonding time for all of us and at the same time check on him and his medications. It was a must for us to go up to Baguio and be with him when we get a chance to have our vacation time.

The Aguado Brothers

August 9, 2011

Daddy Pete (on the left) and Uncle Mike (on the right) now are reunited in heaven. They are celebrating their reunion as we celebrated Father's Day for them last June 17, 2011. This picture was taken when they were in their 20's. They both look dashing...very good looking brothers. They may have left us here on earth but they are happily reunited with their parents in heaven. We love you both. We will keep your memories alive. You will always be remembered.

A 1985 Family Picture

August 9, 2011

This picture was taken in 1985 when Cathy visited the Philippines from the US. Daddy Pete was not sick here yet. He was still a happy camper. We really have a precious family. It so nice to look at old pictures.

The before and after

August 8, 2011

The above pictures were taken about 40 years apart. The left picture was taken in his 20's and the right picture was taken in his 60's. One can really see how attractive he really was.

Our Down to Earth Dad

August 8, 2011

Our Dad was a very adventurous person. He was also a popular guy. He would rub elbows with the rich and famous then at the same time dine with the natives and less fortunate ones. Dad is a compassionate person. He sure did charm a lot of people with his Spaniard looks.

You should try going to the Farmer's Market in Baguio City with him. Stall owners would say "Good Morning Kuya Pete" (Kuya is a sign of respect). Then they would be very happy and they all had a great time everytime he was around.  Dad had his favorite pipes and cigars so some of them called him "Don Pedro". He was very popular in Baguio's Farmer's Market.

We  love him dearly. He will always be remembered.

Our Beautiful Parents

August 8, 2011

Daddy Pete and Mommy Connie taken in their 20's in Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines. Our Mom already have our eldest sister, Mari Chris when this picture was taken. Cathy and Dickie were still in the making. This picture is a treasure itself. We love them both dearly.

Many faces of Daddy Pete

August 8, 2011

This picture was the picture we had at his Memorial Service at Loyola Memorial Chapel located at the Financial District in Makati, Philippines. Dad passed away in Feb 20, 2003. Dad was a very good looking Spaniard. These are the compilation of his many faces at different times. My three siblings were with him when he passed away. They are the 3 children mentiond above. From the left Dickie, Daddy Pete, Mari Chris and Roy. This is his last picture taken before his demise.

Our last family picture together...

August 8, 2011

This picture was taken by my photographer sister Mari Chris' at her house in Merville Park, Philippines. I visited the Philippines in Feb 1994 with my daughter Ana. This is the last family picture before Daddy Pete passed away. The outfit we are all wearing is made with pineapple fiber and it is known as "Barong Tagalog". It is our National Fabric.
