Biography

October 10, 2016

Pa Peter I. Sakwe
was born on June 16, 1935 in Dikome Balue, Ndian Division by Mami Magdalene Morie and Pa Peter Sakwe (both proceeded in death). He died on September 15th, 2016 at the age of 81 years.

At a very tender age, Late Pa Sakwe and his younger brother became orphans and were raised by their grandmother with whom they deveoped such a close bond.

He attended the Presbyterian School, Dikome Balue and obtained the Standard Six Certificate.

He later attended St. Joseph College, Sasse, Buea from 1951 to 1956 and obtained the Ordinary Levels - London General Certificate of Education.

Upon graduation from Sase College, he became employed with the Cameroon Development Cooperation (CDC) and worked for several years. During this time, it became evident that he wanted to pursue further education like most of his peers in the United Kingdom. Nonetheless, he had been married with two young children, George and Magdalene Sakwe. His reluctance for further studies came out of the abundance of love for his young family. He was always inspired, well aware of educational and professional paths and kept the dream alive.

in 1962, he enrolled in distant learning and took correspondence courses with the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. After a couple of years, he obatined a Diploma in Accounting.

He later worked as an Accountant with the Cameroon Electrical Power Corp. - POWERCAM (now SONEL AES). At the pinacle of his professional career with POWERCAM, Pa Sakwe received the calling into Academia.

He would then become the symbol of authority at the National Comprehensive Secondary School Limbe, teaching the Accounting course while serving as Discipline Master for many years during the mid seventies. He touched the lives of so many students spanning through their families during his time at the National Comphrehensive College, Limbe.

He later transitioned and worked as Accountant for SIKABO Corporation, Douala for several years. He quite did not enjoy the experience and Francophonie work-ethics. He decided to return to his base in Limbe where he took on Private Contracting with the Cameroon Development Corp. (CDC); a job he handled until his retirement in Dec 2000.

In May of 2005, Pa Sakwe and his wife migrated to the US, living with their families in Massachusetts and Maryland. He took ill in August 2016 and within several weeks, his health deteriorated, sucuuming to death on Sept 15, 2016.

Pa lived a very celebrated and fullfilled life. He was a devout christian of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed the good company of family, friends, good food and drinks. He had a great sense of humor; often recounting his days in Limbe with an infectious smile that glomoured around him.

He lives behind and loves above all his beauthiful wife, Mama Frida Sakwe, his Children; George, Magdelene, Evelyn, Victorine and Elsie.

He now rests with His Savior until we meet to part more.

Adieu Pa and rest in eternal peace.
