Philip Gene Aviles of Milton, MA died as a result of a tragic accident at his home on September 15, 2015. He was the beloved husband of 10 years to Michael Kristen (Ballo) and devoted father of Palmer Miguel. Philip was the loving son of John and Gertrude Aviles, and brother of Jay, Dennis and Peter Aviles, all of Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

Philip was born in New York and was raised in Port St. Lucie until he left to attend the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hudson Valley, NY. After graduation, Philip honed his craft in various restaurants on the East Coast including the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan.

Philip achieved his dream and opened his own restaurant, Masa, in the South End of Boston.

Not long after, he met the love of his life and future wife and charmed her with his culinary acumen. After the success of Masa South End, in 2009 Philip opened his second outpost of Masa in Woburn.

Philip was a loyal friend to everyone he met. He and his wife Michael loved nothing more than cooking for his family and friends at his home and restaurants.  Philip was an avid lover of music, and a Rush superfan.
