His Life

R. C. Swiney was born January 12, 1934 to the late Cecil and Eula Johnson Swiney in Hazlehurst, Mississippi (Copiah County).  There he met Betty Jean Jones and united in marriage on August 7, 1953.  They relocated to West Monroe, Louisiana and to that union four boys and four girls were born:

Ronald Charles, Erwin Bernard, Cavin O'Neal, Warren Seth, Bengeline, Jennifer Renee, Marilyn Denise, and Devona Kay.  

R. C. accepted Christ during his marriage and was a member of the New Daughters of Zion Baptist Church.  He served under the leadership of Reverend Robert F. Stevenson, until he moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1969.

While living in Nebraska, R. C. met Ethel Noble and her two sons Randy and Lynell Noble.  He later married Ethel and to that union two sons were born,   Anthony and Mandrell.  

R. C. worked as a fork lift driver for over ten years and as an auto mechanic until he retired in 2011. 

R. C. lived an active life.  He loved to exercise, fish and work on cars.  He had a wonderful sense of humor.  Whenever you saw him, he had a big smile on his face.  He was very kind hearted and would give of himself constantly to others.

R. C. was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Eula Swiney, second wife Ethel Noble Swiney, step son Lynell Noble, two brothers, A. G. , A. J. and two sisters, Lillie and Ora Lee.

He leaves to cherish his memory, first wife Betty Jean Swiney.  Sons: Ronald Charles (Lucita) Swiney, Dallas, Texas, Erwin Bernard Swiney, Omaha, Nebraska, Cavin O'neal Swiney, Dallas, Texas, Warren Seth Swiney, Dallas, Texas,  Anthony Swiney, Omaha, Nebraska, Mandrell Swiney, Omaha, Nebraska, stepson Randy Noble, Omaha, Nebraska and son Don Duberry of San Diego, California.  Daughters: Bengeline Jackson, Cedar Hill, Texas, Jennifer Appleberry (Michael) Arlington, Texas, Marilyn Yarbrough, Port Saint Lucie, Florida and Devona Gray (Bernard) Desoto, Texas.  Sister: Maybell Jones, Omaha, Nebraska, brother: L. J. Swiney, Memphis, Tennessee.  Brother in Law: Calvin,  Omaha, Nebraska, Sister in Laws: Velma, Bonnie and Margaret all of Omaha, Nebraska.  Twenty grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.    Psalms 4:1
