Ralph was born Nov. 25, 1925, on the family farm north of Dodge in Cuming County to Frank and Elsie (Lhotak) Glodowski. The family moved to a farm west of Scribner. He graduated from Scribner High School in 1943. In 1945, the family moved to the home place northeast of North Bend. In 1953, he married Margret A. Elbracht in Howells. They lived on the family dairy farm 10 miles southwest of Scribner. He had farmed at the North Bend home for over 60 years.

He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, North Bend Council 3736. He served as Farm Bureau president. He was on the school board and served as Nebraska state rural youth secretary. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner and St. Lawrence Holy Name. He was dairy superintendent at the Dodge County Fair and 4-H Fair, and a member of the Mid-American Dairy Farmers. He was a recipient of the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award.
