This is the day you past away 5 months ago, and it just felt like last week when you were fighting just to stand to give me a hug. You're like a father I never had. I love you and I never stop thinking about you. Thank you for everythi

A Day on the Ocean with RB

October 27, 2012

After a long road trip from North Dakota with my brother-in-law, Randy and Karla took us for our first deep sea fishing trip.  We loved fishing so this was very exciting for us. It was a typical California day...beautiful, sunny and calm, perfect for a day at sea. Early that morning Randy and Karla are gathering all the stuff need for the day. I was full of anticipation and some fear of being on the massive ocean in a boat that seemed tiny in comparison.  After a short time on the freeway we arrived at the coast.  Unloading the boat took a very short time and before I knew it we were rocking and rolling out in the wide blue sea.  As we approached a group what looked like pontoons to me, I asked Randy if this is where we would be fishing and he gave his deep chuckle and informed me that it was just a bait barge!  When we had our bait we were again cruising the waves along the coastline to his spot.  He shut the boat off, we rigged our lines and were finallly ready to fish. However, when Randy tried to start the boat again the key broke in the ignition! He tried to fix it but had no luck so, reluctantly the AAA club (my words/terms) was called. We drifted towards shore and fished until we were towed back. I was the only one who caught a small fish.  The day was not what Randy had hoped to give us but it was a great day for me anyway.  Thanks Bro..you will be missed but I have this memory to keep you with me.
