Ray Melvin Riley, 76, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at his home.

Ray was the son of the late Johnny Veston Riley and Emma Lessie Johnson. He was a member of Tally Ho First Baptist Church and faithfully attended Stovall Methodist Church. He farmed for several years, ran a store in Stem for several years, worked at Mt. Hope Finishing Company in Butner and Lace Lastics in Oxford.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Stovall Methodist Church by Rev. John Yount. Burial will be at South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Barbara Elliott Riley of the home, a daughter, Tuesday Riley Oliver(John) of Oxford, four sons, Johnny Riley (Rhonda), Russell Riley, Timothy Riley, David Riley, a brother Clarence Riley of Stem, a sister, Linda Morris of Oxford and two grandsons, Justin and John Adam Oliver. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Monica Riley, brothers Roy and Raymond Riley and sisters Ruby Riley, Dorothy Suitt and Bertha West.

Visitation will be held Monday evening, August 21, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.
