Final days

November 15, 2011

Raymond had a heart attack on October 31st, 2002.  He had many health issues in his life but this was probably the worst.  He lived his final 8 months in his home with his wife and family. 

Raymond is buried in the Veteran section at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, MO.

Life together

On November 5, 1939, Raymond married Stella Bryant, daughter of Singleton Jahue and Elizabeth Bryant.  There were married at Stella's parents home.  During this time Raymond worked in a bakery in Orofino, Idaho.

On November 20, 1940 their son, Richard Thair was born at their home in Ashahka, Idaho.  In 1941 Raymond went to work in a pole yard in Ashahka.  On December 7, 1941, World War II started with the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  Raymond registered for the draft.  In 1941, Raymond went to work for Missoula White Pine Sash company.  In 1943, he went to work for a man on a farm in Kennewick, Washington.  Then I went back to work at the sawmill in Peck, Idaho.

On February 19, 1943, their daughter Patricia Ann was born at their home in Ashahka, Idaho.

In the Fall of 1944, he went to work at the Hanford, Washington Atomic Energy Department.  He had to stay in the barracks leaving the family at Peck.  In the fall of 1944 he went to work at the Post office in Richland, Wa. 

On April 11, 1945 their daughter Carol was born in Ahsahka, at Stella parents homel.  In June 1945 he was called to the Army in the Infantry division.  The Lord saw fit that he didn't have to stay very long and the war ended and he went back to work at the Post Office.  He stayed at the Post Office in Richland Washington for 16 1/2 years.

On June 25, 1953 their final child was born, a daughter Nancy Jean.

In 1958 Raymond was called as an Apostle in The Church of Christ.  In March 1961 he moved his family to Independence, Missouri.

Raymond was employed at the Independence Sanitarium for several years.

Early Years

Raymond's parents moved to Harrison Idaho, where his father worked for Harrison Lumber Company.  In 1924, he started his first year of school.  In 1925, they moved to Missoula, Montana going by boat from Harrison, Id to St Maries, id.  In the fall of 1925, he attended first grade again. 
They moved again and this time to Ronan, Montana were they stayed until his junior year of high school.  Raymond's father worked in Missoula and drove home when he could.  Raymond's father was an Apostle in The Church of Christ.  Raymond was babtisted in 1929 into The Church of Christ.

In 1935, we moved to Dent, Idaho.  Raymond stayed with his grandparents and graduated in the spring of 1936 from Sandpoint High School.  He worked several jobs; body shop, road construction (operated a jack hammer).

In 1938 Raymond became an Elder in The Church of Christ. Raymond drove to Ahsahka, Idaho where his parents wer holding church services in an old store building.  This is where Raymond meet his future bride.
