Regina Jenkins Newton, 76, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Duke Medical Center in Durham after a lengthy illness.

A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late William Lee Jenkins and Bessie Clyde Hockaday Jenkins. Regina was a member of First Baptist Church Creedmoor and was a store manager and bookkeeper in the Creedmoor area for many years until her health declined. She was a faithful and loving grandmother to all four of her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church Creedmoor by Rev. Jim Shelley and Rev. Stan Jenkins. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Surviving is her husband of sixty years, Charles Noblin Newton, Sr. of the home; a daughter, Cindy N. Hicks (Marty) of Kittrell; two sons, Charles Noblin Newton, Jr. and Timothy “Mark” Newton both of Creedmoor; a brother, Kenneth Jenkins (Betty) of Wake Forest; two granddaughters, Krista Brooke Newton, Kaitlin Elizabeth Newton and two grandsons, Phillip Greyson Hicks and Jonathan Taylor Newton. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Jenkins Lee, Nancy Jenkins Thaxton, Carolyn Jenkins Massad and a brother, William Lyman Jenkins.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. June 23, 2017 at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home.
