8th grade Reading Class

January 8, 2016

Rhonda and I had reading class the same period.  I do not remember if Mr Matalik had assigned seats or not, but I always sat beside Rhonda.  We became friends at that point.  We use to chit chat before class, probably about nothing in general just small talk.

One day, we were shooting the breeze when we should have been reading and Mr Matalik separated us.  This behavior happened more than several times and we were not allowed to sit by each other anymore.

We would chat at her desk every day before the bell rang.  I do not remember what provoked me, but I called her darth vader.  Maybe I though I was being cute, funny or something else but I said, "Talk to you later darth vader."  I guess she reminded me of darth vader because of the dark lenses she had on her glasses.

This comment must have offended her. I did not say it to offend her.  She jumped out of her seat and said something like You big oaf and she procedded to punch me.  I was caught off guard and I was covering up.  At that particular moment, Mr Matalik walked into the room.  He sent us to the office.  Mr Price handed down detention to both of us.

We were both sitting in detention after school and we laughed about the incident.  I continued to be friends with her through out the remainder of our time at BHS.  It would have been nice to keep in touch with her post high school,  After graduation, our lives changed and it became difficult to keep in touch with classmates.

Here is a shout out to my classmates from BHS class of 85 that reads this story and wants to reconnect and catch up on what's been happening with their life since graduation, feel free to contact me.  Phone 304-914-2483 E-mail williammarsella@yahoo.com  or facebook william bubba marsella
