Nine years since he left

June 1, 2020
Well, today is the 9th anniversary of Ace's departure to Heaven. Oh the sights and sounds I believe he has seen....not to mention the foods he's enjoyed. Towards the end of his life he couldn't eat much. Before his illness, we had gone to the Clayton Steakhouse, which he loved, and he would order their largest steak dinner and eat every bite of it. Towards the end of his life, he still accompanied me to that same restaurant but his choice in steak at that time was their smallest available - and he couldn't eat it all.

I'm sure he's enjoying all kinds of foods now without cost, or consideration of how it might affect his health or body. I'm happy for him.  When I know that someone is born again and that they've gone to Heaven it makes life on earth much easier for those left behind. Still, it's not that easy being without our loved one. I miss him every day and talk to him. I'm sure you do, too.

It's sad though that none of his family, Gary, Connie, Shannon, Rich talk to any of us anymore. I don't quite understand what happened there, but it would be nice to hear from them, occasionally. They are still on earth and still part of our family.

Dayton, FL 2010

June 1, 2013

This picture was taken in 2010, when we made a trip to Daytona, FL for what would be the last time he would see his brother John alive. The trip was for a family reunion. Ace drove the entire way, thankfully. We stopped half-way though and stayed a nice hotel and walked over to the a cute little restaurant/bar. They had a live band for which we stayed and listened to for about an hour. It was a good evening. On the way back home we did the same thing, stopped at a hotel and had dinner. We even went to breakfast before leaving. It was our last trip together. He did go back to Florida in January 2011 even though he really wasn't up for it. He wanted to be there for Debbie, John's lady....John had passed away suddently. I don't think he got to see John, I think he'd already been cremated.

Sleepy Head

LazyBoy

Ace just loved our Lazy Boy recliners. He fell asleep in them many times and said they had sleeping pills in them.

Men can play Musical Chairs

June 10, 2011

Ace was the only male participant in a Musical Chairs game at the birthday party of friends of ours, two years ago. He pushed the ladies out of the way if they were in the chair he wanted......he wound up winning the game and had everyone in stitches with laughter.
