|Let the memory of Richard be with us forever|
"I will always remember Dr, Witzig, he shared a birthday with my sister Margaret. But what I most remember is how his staff always had a little party for him on his birthday. Plus the big party at the Peanut Farm in Woodside and that was a lot of fun with the shaky floors. Great fun with his attitude about life.."
"When I woke up this morning I said "Good Morning" to my husband and then I said "Today is Dr. Witzig's birthday and I miss him". I will always cherish my relationship with Dick. He continues to inspire me to this day. I think of him often with much love and respect. I am also thinking of Mary today, sending hugs her way!!"
"Tom Longman (my significant other) & I met Dr. Witzig number of times at Basque restaurant & bar(Carson Valley Countr Club). He made us laugh, we bonded right away, had all lived in Marin.Coincident found Dr. Witzig's mom had been my dad's (Geo. Lewis) elem.& HS teacher at Kearny NJ in 1930's.Richard prayed for Tom when Tom was at Incline & Truckee hospitals 5 wks, supportive!"
"Dr. Witzig was thee best doctor a kid could have!. Our family took turns in seeing the doctor, but I won out for being so accident prone. I actually enjoyed visiting the doctor, with his cigars and humorous jokes, always put you at ease, even when I hemorrhaged in the recovery room after a tonsillectomy@ 25 yrs.old.he blew in like superman,& did the surgery again without missing a beat."
"Dr Witzig was the best doctor I have ever had. He was truly missed when he retired. I hope he did enjoy his retirement though. Mary my thoughts are with you. He was a wonderful man and I hope you can carry that with you."
"To Mary and Family.... my heartfelt sympathy and love to you all. Have so many precious memories of Dr. Witzig during my employment at Peninsula Hospital. His dedication to medicine, his patients, and the hospital were always evident. His happy and fun-filled presence remains in my memory even after retirement. I am sure that Dick is now preparing a place for us all in Heaven.God Bless"
"Dr. W (as we called him) was a wonderful human being. My mother-in-law Carol worked for him for years. He and Mary attended my wedding, attended family parties, allowed us to use their cabin at Incline Village, and he delivered my 2 children. We lived in his apartment above his office for years and he was a fantastic landlord as well. My thoughts & prayers are with you all. Love & Hugs!"
"My life changed the day I interviewed for a medical asst. position with Dr. Witzig. He hired me on intuition. His faith in my nursing abilities sustained me for all of my medical career. He was my boss, but so much more; my teacher, my mentor, my friend! And the bonus; his family and all the wonderful people he introduced me to. He touched so many lives with his care and humor.A true gift!"
"Dr. Witzig was a truly special man and a gifted doctor. I will always remember his wonderful sense of humor and how compassionate we he was to all. As I told my mother upon his passing - you are so fortunate to have had such a remarkable person in your life... aren't we all? Our thoughts, prayers and love are with you."
"I first met Dr. Witzig 48 years ago and he delivered all five of my children. As a frightened young girl with no family or an education, this man and true Doctor always encouraged me that I was intelligent and that I could do whatever I set out to do and with his words he gave faith. No matter what problem it was, he was there for us. What a great Doctor and friend along with his wife Mary"
"Our family was a patient of Dr. Witzig for 22 years. Really missed him when we had to switch doctors because of insurance. Will always remember him and also you Mary in the office. May all your memories help you with your loss. Judy Castillo, San Mateo, CA"
