It has been one year since you died. You are missed so much. Can't believe it has been a year already. Love you and miss you!
Richard Charles Pruss was born on February 1, 1930 at Clearwater, NE to Albert and Bessie (Tresnak) Pruss. The family returned to the Dodge area when Richard was a little boy. He attended Dodge Co. Rural School and graduated from Dodge High School in 1947. Following graduation he worked throughout the summer prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on October 9, 1947. He served during the Korean War as a field telephone operator and fought in the battle at the Chosin Reservoir. Richard received the Korean Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged on October 8, 1951 at the rank of a Sergeant.
On January 29, 1952, he was united in marriage to Doris Ann Steffensmeier at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean. The couple began farming one mile west of Dodge and continued to live on the same farm.
Richard was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, Dodge American Legion Post #122 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8597. He loved his family and he especially lit up when his grandchildren entered the room. Richard loved gardening, fishing, playing cards, and was an avid reader.
