Richard Dale Friend was born November 17,1930 in Joplin Missouri. He served over 22 years in the U.S. Army. During this time he served in the Vietnam and Korean wars, and spent time in Germany. He was married to Lucille Friend for over 50 years, and has created a wonderful family consisting of 2 sons and 3 daughters, Matthew Friend & Dawn Luzefski of Torrington CT, and Edward & Emily Friend of Buda TX, and Kathleen Friend and Rebecca Friend of Pfugerville TX and is proceeded in death by daughter Lucy Ann Friend also from Torrington CT. He has also left behind 6 loving grandchildren, Marcus Dalhover of Temple TX, Christopher Dalhover-Friend of Pflugerville TX and Skylar Friend of Granger TX, Reed Friend Raina Friend, and Rhys Snyder of Torrington CT. He had one great-grandchild whom he was over the moon for, Conner Griekspoor. He is preceeded in death by his parents Jaunita and Ellic Friend, his brothers, Earl, Bob, Donald, and Charlie, and his sisters Faye and Ruth. He has 2 surviving sisters, Martha and Dixie. He also had several nieces and nephews who loved him very much. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He was loved by all who knew him. He was laid to rest Monday, January 11, 2016 12:00 Noon at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery 11463 Texas 195 Killeen,TX
